As I now rarely post to this Blog I have decided to close it. I use Facebook extensively and it allows me to post my news and photos and reach my friends and family.
A look at life through my eyes, with an emphasis on family, good times with friends, and travel.
Dates in this blog:
The dates shown on the posts in my blog are all a day out - I assume because Google operates on USA time, about 14 hours behind Adelaide. So when the date is Thursday, I have actually written it on the Friday!
Living in Unley with my husband, Eion, only one dog now (Toad) and a cat (Dizzy). Retired from medical
administration and psychiatry and loving every minute of life. Playing contract bridge and have completed short courses in conversational French and Italian. Eion and I have had several overseas trips (USA, Japan, UK, France, Cambodia, New Zealand, Norway, the Baltic states,Hong Kong, Vietnam) and I have also been to Italy and Greece with one of my sisters, and to Turkey with a girl friend. Private Latin lessons were a highlight of my week but are now in abeyance.
I originally set up this blog to stay in touch with a friend who had gone to teach in Nepal but Facebook proved much easier and quickly became our communication of choice. The blog has therefore become a repository for my musings about my family, friends and the good times I have with them. To date it hasn't been "published" out there in the wild blue yonder, so it really is a private journal. But if you are reading this, and want to look further into the various pages, feel free to do so.
My Family:
This is the only photo I have of all my family together in the one place, so it's very special to me. It was taken in 1957 and that's me with the dark hair standing in front. Mum and Dad are both deceased but I still enjoy the company of my brother and sisters and always look forward to our times together.
My son, Joshua:
These photos show me with my son, Joshua. The top one was taken when he was about 11 years old, and the one below, at my 60th birthday party in March 2010. He lives in Sydney with his gorgeous wife, Jen, and their son Henry. Jen and Josh are shown together in the bottom photo in this set and there are photos of Henry in various posts.
My husband, Eion:
Eion and I were married in 1989 in a civil ceremony in a suite at the (then) Hyatt Regency Hotel, followed by a cocktail party for our friends and closest immediate family. The top photo shows us with the celebrant and my Dad lurking in the background. We also celebrated our wedding with a casual pool party for the whole of both families the following week. The photo below that one shows us in Sydney in 2008, (when we had spent Christmas with Josh and Jen), waiting for the New Year's Eve fireworks on the harbour.
